What is meant by “Browse by Course”?
When we browse a menu at a restaurant we will find featuring multiple courses. The basic full course meal consists of three or sometimes four courses. They often begin with precursors to the main dish, such as an amuse-bouche, followed by the main course(s), and they are finished off with desserts, coffee, or tea.
Full course meals frequently take place at someone’s home, restaurant or venue. They are customarily enjoyed in the afternoon or evening for a special occasion. In both upscale restaurants and casual eateries, guests can opt for a full course meal by ordering multiple dishes to come out at separate times.
What Is a Meal Course?
A meal course is a single food item or a set of food items served in one go, such as a sandwich, wrap, soup and crackers, or a protein base and mashed potatoes. An average meal consists of one or more meal courses.
How Many Courses Are in a Meal?
Many meals only contain one course and are usually a combined plate. The most basic full course meal is made up of two, three or even four of the following courses: an appetizer, a main dish, a dessert and often coffee or tea. However, meals can feature up to twelve or more courses.
Appetisers & Snacks
Appetisers ers are finger foods that are usually served before the main course or in between mealtimes and can also be called snacks or starters. They may range from the very simple to the very complex, depending on the occasion.
The Main Course
The main course is the featured or primary dish in a meal consisting of several courses. It usually follows the starter course and is the biggest meal on the menu. In the United States, the main course may be called the “entrée”. The main dish is usually the heaviest, heartiest, and the most complex or substantive dish on a menu.
A feast for the eyes and palate is essential by introducing seasonal and organic or locally grown produce and ingredients.
Desserts
A menu dessert often has a separate menu designed to remind guests of the dessert dishes. The dessert course follows the main and consists of sweet foods, such as cakes, pies and confections, and possibly a beverage such as tea or coffee. Upscale restaurants may include liqueurs.
