I’m a self-taught plant-based vegan cook with over 30 years of experience, and I’m here to share delicious, nourishing, reliable, and approachable Family Recipes — many inspired by traditional Spanish cooking. All recipes come with hands-on photography to help guide you every step of the way.

Delicious wholesome recipes. Tried-and-tested vegan plant-based recipes for the whole family to enjoy. You will find vegan desserts such as biscuits and cookies, simple appetizers, beverages, and main dishes like curries, casseroles, soups, etc.
There’s nothing I love more than creating healthier spins on classic recipes, many of which are gluten-free, refined sugar-free, and easy to make.
Reliable Recipes. All my recipes have been developed and tested in my kitchen. I test each recipe several times to ensure that you can master it, too.
Approachable Recipes. Most recipes are straightforward, nourishing, and can be effortlessly prepared any day of the week. I guide you through the recipes with step-by-step, detailed instructions and hands-on photos.
Recipes to suit every skill level. My recipes range from simple, low-budget to more advanced with a higher skill level.
Background
I grew up in Birmingham, UK, and while living in a carnivorous household, meat used to be a big part of every meal. But around age fifteen, I watched a documentary that really opened my eyes — I more or less went vegan from then on.
My exploration led me to Menorca at twenty-one, where I faced the challenge of limited vegan options. Navigating through health setbacks, I eventually returned to a plant-based diet, discovering the incredible effects of herbs and spices on well-being.
As a certified nutritionist and mother, I emphasize the importance of whole food plant-based living. I keep things simple, sharing recipes with easily accessible ingredients while linking to quality sources if needed.
Passionate about food freedom, our recipes cater to various preferences – nutritious, low-calorie, refined sugar-free, and gluten-free. I firmly believe that food nourishes the body and feeds the soul, infusing every meal with joy and satisfaction. Balancing a range of dishes, from spicy delights to comforting classics, I advocate for the holistic benefits of a well-rounded plant-based lifestyle.
My Blog Story
My journey began in the summer of 2020, just after the lockdown. Amidst feeling generally unwell, I turned to a strict, mostly raw diet for about four months – no processed foods, just an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, and invigorating juices.
As I gradually regained my vitality, I found myself compelled to share my wholesome recipes on Instagram. Through a series of username changes, ‘Dishing Out Plants’ emerged, encapsulating not only my journey but also my dedication to nourishing my family with plant-based goodness.
Fast forward to this present time, and what started as a mere backup for my recipes has evolved into this website. Despite a bustling schedule, I’m excited to delve deeper into sharing the hundreds of recipes I’ve cultivated over the years, and hey, there are many more to come.
My Passions
Cooking is my art and meditation. As a former dental nurse and teacher, I never imagined becoming a food blogger, but blending my passion for wholesome cooking, photography, fitness, and yoga feels like a dream come true. Right now, blogging is a hobby, but I’d love to take it further, even knowing how intense the journey can be.
I love experimenting with diverse plant-based ingredients, creating vibrant recipes I never knew existed. I firmly believe in the transformative power of food to nourish the mind, body, and soul.

I love soups and Asian Cuisine, but I am also addicted to pizza, crisps, chocolate, and coffee. I believe staying healthy is all about balance.
Being vegan is not a requirement to enjoy the recipes on my website! While all of the dishes are plant-based, they are designed to be delicious and satisfying for anyone, regardless of dietary preferences.
Whether you’re a seasoned vegan, an occasional meat-eater, or anywhere in between, I believe there’s something for everyone here.
My aspiration for the future is to introduce a vegan twist on Spanish tapas and traditional recipes, bread and pastry recipes, and more low-budget recipes.
My favorite spice is turmeric with black pepper because I believe in its powerful anti-inflammatory benefits and overall health properties. I take it daily in my golden milk and always add it to soups and casseroles for an extra health boost.
I started cooking for myself and my family at age 15, often with simple ingredients like rice and vegetables. But the real lessons began over 30 years ago when I moved to Spain as a teenager. That’s when I had the joy of learning from my wonderful Spanish mother-in-law, María — an incredible home cook who introduced me to the heart of traditional Spanish cuisine.
Although I’m a self-taught cook, those early experiences gave me a strong foundation in Mediterranean flavors, which I’ve since adapted into plant-based dishes. Over the years, I’ve also taken part in various workshops and courses on natural herbs, spices, and medicinal plants — all of which inspire the wholesome recipes you’ll find on my page.
