Green Detox Juice! Should we cleanse regularly?

When we are toxic… the mechanism for detoxification in the liver gets sluggish, and toxins can remain active longer in our bodies than we want or than our systems can handle. This makes us sick and impedes normal metabolism. It also causes fluid retention and bloating.

To make a litre of this delicious cleansing juice, I blended:

🌱 Kiwis
🌱Celery stalks
🌱 Lemon with skin

Notes on ingredients

Kiwis – Make sure when you buy them they are not too hard or soft. If they are hard they are usually bitter and if they are too soft the skin can be difficult to remove.

Apples – I like to use bright red apples or golden delicious. These types are often sweet with are perfect for juicing. I do remove the skin and eat it separately.

Celery Stalks – I used a few thin organic celery stalks.

Ginger – Apart from its health benefits, ginger gives the juice an exotic touch of spice.

Lemon – I leave the lemon skin on for juicing.

How to make summary

It’s as easy as popping all the ingredients into a liquidiser and blending them at full speed to get a wonderful bubbly juice.

While cleansing it is important to use organic products. I only peeled the kiwis, I blended all the remaining ingredients with their skins. You want to make sure you’re feeding your body with fresh clean ingredients.

Kiwi Health Benefits

Many of us love kiwis, also known as Chinese gooseberry, kiwis have several health benefits to offer. you might like to know they are bursting with vitamin C, they have a good source of vitamin K which promotes blood clotting and they are loaded with fibre, folate, copper, potassium, and antioxidants. They also contain an enzyme called bromelain (bromelain can fight inflammation and improve digestion in the body).

Kiwellin and kissper are also two proteins found in kiwi fruit that may have anti-inflammatory properties. All of these nutrients are essential for our health and the optimal functioning of our bodies. Kiwis are available fresh, dried, or as juice.

Why should we cleanse regularly?

Detoxification is one of the body’s most basic automatic functions of eliminating toxins through the liver, colon, kidneys, bladder, lungs, and skin. When we are toxic, the mechanism for detoxification gets sluggish, and toxins can remain active longer in our bodies than we want or than our systems can handle, this, in turn, makes the perfect environment for us to get sick.

A detox diet is needed to get rid of these toxins, this is why it’s recommended a good detox diet at least four times a year. Our entire system works more efficiently after a detox.

Lemons and other citric fruits such as oranges, limes, and grapefruits are great for detoxification. They are loaded with vitamin C which fights free radicals that damage your body. They are alkaline in property and help restore the body’s pH balance. This is the perfect money drink and will cleanse and boost your immunity.

Vegetables: Popular and cleansing vegetables are cucumbers, spinach, avocado, beetroot, kale, and celery.

Lemon water is a very simple procedure and it’s done by adding natural room temperature water to freshly squeezed lemon juice. it’s usually recommended the juice of at least half of a lemon to a full lemon, but you can use more.

  • 8 kiwis
  • 4 apples
  • 8 thin celery stalks
  • A 2 cm piece of ginger
  • 1/2 of lemon with skin


  • Start by washing the celery and the lemon skin.
  • Peel the kiwis and put the kiwis into a blender.
  • Peel the apples and remove the cores. Save the skin to eat later.
  • There is no need to take the skin off ginger, so pop a 2cnm piece straight into the blender.
  • Cut the washed lemons in half, remove the pips and pop them straight into the blender.
  • Blend all the ingredients until you have a lovely bubbly juice.
  • Serve cold or add ice cubes
